to celebrate the arrival
of the
first locally-owned, ocean liner—the , Poverty Bay Meat Co.'s steamer Admiral Oodrington. Speeches eulogising tho enterprise were made by Mr W. D. Lysnar, M.P., chairman of directors of ihe company; Dr Chappie, an ex-lmP. and an exniember of the House of Commons;'
.Captain Plunkett, Lloyd's representative; C. A. de Lautour, chairman of | directors -of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Company, and others. Great ' -enthusiasm was shown by the six hundred guests.
