Patterson's spectacular overhead smashing was almost faultless, and his accurate placing at the net anticipated Kingscote's famous cross-court drives. In the fourth round of the doubles championship Fisher and Ritchie beat Crawford and Green, 3-6, 6-3, 9-7.
