POSITION AT AUCKLAND
. AUCKLAND, July 3. The coal shortage lias been further relieved by the arrival of tlie Katoa fjom Westport with 3000 tons on board. The Mayor stated to-day that the City Council had ample stocks of coal for the peace illuminations, which would not accentuate the present shortage. Soft coal was burned at the power-station, whereas the Gas Company's difficulty was in securing bituminous coal.
