In reward to the canvass of farmers which the committee have in view it was decided to let the matter li* m abeyance for the present, and' until there is a prospect of the retunii f l/\l aiFTi n»m]>er of men, as it is telt that the list of openings would! be more accurate and reliable if made when there is a better prospect of the vacancies being filled. ' . In connection with this matter aw intimation has been received front the Minister in Charge of the Discharged Soldiers' Department thafc the Government will be prepared to pay up to £1 per week (in addition to any pension) for a period not exceeding 12 months, to' subsidise the wages of inexperienced men receiving training on a farm.
