PRUSSIAN PRINCE ARRIVES IN

LONDON,

Prince and Princess Salm-Salm, who have been sent to England from Gibraltar, where they were living on parole, have reached London on their way to Germany. They have been exchanged, at the suggestion of Kirnj Alfonso, for Colonel' Gordon, V.C., of the Gordon Highlanders, who was taken prisoner during- the retreat from Mons, and recently returned to England in a condition of great weakness. Prince and Princess Emmanuel Salm-Salm were in South Africa when the 1 war broke out, and it has been suggested, that the prince was sent there as the Kaiser's representative, to lake charge as German Governor^ Gx-.leral, in the event of a successful p!'rt-German rising—instead of which ho nnd his wife were interned.

Prince Emmanuel Saln-.-Salm is n captain of the Prussian Uhlans of the Guard, and was. formerly an official of the Berlin Foreign Office. He is 45 years of yge. The Princess is the eldest <;hild of the Archduke Frederick, Commander-in-Chief of the Austrian Army. She is the King of Spain's first < cousin. A year ago the Prince ana Princess were transferred from Bloemfontein to Gibraltar, 'where they lived on parole. They were allowed to go to Madrid on a visit to King Alfonso.
