One hundred thousand are homeless on the mainland. .
Lava and stones blocked the railway for 230 miles away. Blocks of lava the size of houses were thrown in the air. Although, the principal volcanoes in Japan are active, no further disaster Is feared, as Sakura* shima is regarded as the safety valve. The foreign missionaries are safe.
