A FARMER'S DEATH.
[Pbjess Association.] A9HBURTON, June 20. An inquest was held yesterday afternoon regarding the shooting fatality in Hinds district. Margaret Butterick, wife of deceased (Albert Butteriok), stated that her husband left home after breakfast, in his usual cheerful mood, with the dray, for the purpose of getting a load of hay for the live stock. She did not know that her husband had taken his gun with him. There were no family or financial troubles. . L. M. Noble, a neighboring farmer, .stated that on being called by deceased's son he found the body m a paddock a quarter of a mile from the homestead. Both barrels of the gun had been discharged, and the gun was lying in a .position which indicated that it had been accidentally discharged, as there was a pipe filled with tobacco and some matches lying close (by. A week previously deceased, in conversation with witness, stated that the.gun was defective in the locks and that he intended having it repaired. After hearing the medical evidence this morning a verdict of accidental deatfc Jpis returned.
