WANGANUI, Feb. 4. The swimming championships commenced yesterday. The following were results:—

100 Yards (final).—Champion 1, Atkmson 2, Welson 3. Won by a touch. In his heat Champion created a New Zealand record of 61 1-Ssec, and in the final lie succeeded in knocking off the odd fraction, making a new record.

Mile Championship.— Champion 1, nelson 2, Rich 3. Won by 50 yards, in 25min. 345-ec.

Relay Race: Christchurch. 2,

Blenheim 1, East

Polo Championship: Wellington defeated Wanganui B. by 7 points to nil.
