ANNETTE KELLERMAN

MARRHS HER MANAGER

Prom Danbury, Conn., (U.S.A.), dated" November 30th:—

"Annette Kellermann, the Australian swimmer and athlete, whose symmetrical figure has made countless women sigh with envy, is married— has taken the high dive. She is really- truly married now to .James R. Sullivan, her business manager. Three years ago,, when Miss Kellermann was in her second vaudeville season, it was persistently reported that the graceful swimmer and Mr Sullivan were wedded. Miss Kellermann came to Boston in the course of her bookings, and was asked fairly and squarely in her dressing-room if she was married. "Fve nothing to say; you ask Mr Mr Sullivan," said the swimmer, evasively. "But Mr Sullivan had nothing to say, either/ and finally the report of marriage simmered down to the belief that the couple were engaged, but not ready to marry at that time. Later in the same season Miss Kellermann said: "I shall quit the stage in two or three years and turn housewife. The man I shall marry has been my business manager for several years, but I expect, nevertheless, to manage him quite successfully once he becomes my husband." "Miss Kellermann and her businews manager, have realised their cherished plan, and are man and wife. Whether the fair swimmer is finding it easy to "manage" a.business manager as a husband, is too soon, however, to tell. The couple went to the City Hall on November 26th, and secured a marriage license. They were married by Assessor William A. Leonard, a Justice of the peace, with two members of Miss Kellermann's company as witnesses. Every effort was made to keep the marriage secret, and Miss Kellermann appeared at the local theatre that evening, and left the city with Mr Sullivan before the marriage became known. After showing in England and other, parts of Europe Miss Kellermann came to this cduntry and first appeared before Bostonians at Revere, where she gave eight or more exhibitions of diving a day in a concrete tank. She made a tremendous hit on account of the novelty of her act and the extreme grace and comeliness of the swimmer. In the fall of 1908 Miss Kellermann went into vaudeville, making her debut in Boston in an act which included diving, dancing, and diabolo."
