CRICKET.

TROTT INTERVIEWED

VIEWS ON NEW XEALAND

CRICKET.

[PBESS ASSOCIATION.]

SYDNEY, Jan- 29. Trott, interviewed, said that the South Melbourne team was received splendidly in New Zealand. Cricket there had made wonderful strides* in the last 16 years. The fielding and batting wore quite beyond comparison to what they were. He did not think that New Zealand would have a chance with the best Australian teams. The bowling was not strong, and there were no fast bowlers. All the New Zealand wickets were slow, very much like what the English wickets used to he. Players were developing a habit, once very prevalent in England, of getting their legs in the way of break balls. He thought, therefore, that they would be lost on Australia's fast wickets.

"I hope," he said, "that New Zealand will send a team over here, as it would do good to the game there."
