THE COAL INCIDENT

The position of alt airs is unaifceied. The Strike Committee onade a statement regarding • the coal incident to the effect that the Engineer, explained that he had bought, in behait. of tilt Borough Council, 60' odd tons oi coal from the Grand Junction Company, which had been refused tran&ic by the Strike Committee, and stated tkas a supply of coal for the gasworks- was on the road. The Strike Committee was of opinion that the coal purchased from the Junction Company was not wanted for the hospital, a& was stated, but was to be used for io.pen -fire .places. The Borough Council had sufficient coal to ■meet ail requirements. The Mayor was informed that the Strike Committee would see , that the requirements for the sick-in the' hospital would bo considered by their committee. The Committee stated that the 'hospital 'authorities retaliated for the non-delivery of .coal'by refusing tht: admittance of a striker's child to the hospital.
