LOS ANGELES WINS STEAD -MEMORIAL CIJP. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 12. The Canterbury Jockey Club's metropolitan meeting concluded today in beautiful weather. The attendance was very large, including Lord Islington and suite; the racing* was igoqd, but the contest1" for the Stead Gold Cup was robbed of much of its interest through the withdrawal oi: Danube, who met with severe injuries shortly after being brought on to the course through getting his hind legs over a fence. The totalisator investments amounted to £22,349. making the total for the four days £90,] 42. as against £90,361 last year. Bookmakers' fees totalled £560. . Cressy Welter, six furlongs: Gipsy Belle (9.13) 1, Pasnakyle (8.3) 2, Scotch Plaid (8.7) 3., Twelve starters. Gipsy Belle got away well and led throughout, winning by two lengths. Time, Imin 14sec. Seymour Handicap, six furlongs: Flambeau - v (7.5) 1, Kilts (8.11) 2, Directpire (8.1) 3. Sixteen starters. Won by a .neck. Time, Imin 14 3-5 sec.
