STATEMENT OF GRIEVANCES.

REPLY TO MR WADE.

UNION COMPANY'S COAL.

BUSINESS FIRMS IN DIFFICUL-

TIES.

! {Received Nov. 12, 10.4S a.m.) . SYDNEY, Nov.-12. \ The Miners' Delegate Board has issued a statement ©f grievances upon which the Newcastle strike was declared. It covers the whole troubles of the northern coalfields for several years. Many points are raised of an intricate character. '

Mr Bowling, referring to the Government's proposed action, says that Mr Wade's speech contained a threat in almost every line/ The using of threatening language and "bluff" might frighten, hut the miners were not to be frightened that way. If Mi? Wade took action it would be somewhern <^!se than in Newcastle, and it wtcLl not he one of the miners who was first arrested.

The coastal steamship companies have followed the inter-State in raising freights and fares. The Union Company and Huddarb Parker anticipate little difficulty in securing coal. The Union * Company has a stock of ,2000 tons, in Newcastle, which is reserved to the passenger service. The stoppage of southern supplies is likely seriously to interfere with other companies.

Fuel for domestic purposes is getting scarce, and stoppage^ of works by numbers of firm^.is 'inevitable unless an'early settlement is arrived at.
