A Dunedin telegram states that the Commissioner of Taxes sued Mr G. L. Denniston for £35 income tax as &gent for Calcutta and Singapore merchants. The defendant pleaded that he had nothing to do with their business except taking orders and receivng drafts when goods were delvered. He did not handle goods or money. The prosecution contended that profits were made in New Zealand, and as agent the defendant was liable. Judgment was reserved.
