CHRISTCHURCH AND SELWYN COMMITTEES.

[press association.]

CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. The Christchurch Licensing Committee granted eleven transfers and 44 renewals, while two renewals were held over. Eleven wholesale licenses were granted. - The Selwyn Committee granted two temporary transfers and 12 renewals. Application was made for a license for an hotel at Mount Somers, but was refused. Mount Somers had been a portion of the Ashburton electorate during no-license there, but in the last readjustment was included in Selwyn. The Committee felt that it had no power to increase the number of licenses in Selwyn.
