Devorippi't (Aiicklarid) is suffering so severely from a plague of rats that the Auckland Herald considers that the over-harbor suburb could very well do with a visit from the "Pied Piper of Hamelin." The stables in a central street are blamed; by one person, who wrote to - the Borough Council. The writer stated that he had caught seven rats in one. night in his wash-house. He asked for some organised action on the part of the Council against the vermin. Mr John Fuller having also laid a complaint, the Star reports that a member, of the Council said facetiously:. "If -jMr Fuller will persist in singing he must expect to entice tlie rats round there."
