The bowling analysis in Australia's innings against Hampshire was as follows:—Newman 1 for 57,-Brown 1 for 14, Llewellyn 2 for 43, Mead 0 for 19 Hill 0 for 4, Remnant 0 for 9. The pitch was faster for the Australians' second innings. Trumper, after making four, sent up a "skyer," and Newman, running from the slips, took a good catch. One for 17. When 7 more had been added Noble played Newman on. The fielding was smart. The ' Bardsley-Armstrong partnership, lasting B5 minutes, carried the total to 101 before the third wicket fell, the century taking just IUU minutes. Bardsley played a sound, skilful and admirable innings. Ihe batsmen were assisted by the uneven bowling. With "brighter weather the attendance increased to 5000. The fourth wicket went at 139, Llewe%3i snapping up Armstrong at mid-o®. The retiring batsman batted for 95 and gave a splendid display- after a moderate start, of fine, judicious driving.
