UNIVERSAL MILITARY TRAINING.
A RESOLDHMHKT WITHDRAWN
(Received .June 10, .'9:5 a.m.) LONDON, June 9. Mr Balfour, who presided, delivered a remarkable speech at the Press Conference to-day. He endorsed Lord R©sdbery's views, adding that if the Armageddon occurred it would-not be in^he remote-parts of the Empire, brat an' European waters. Mr Haldame agreed with Mr Balfour and-Lord and advocated his scheme xfor a general staff in touch with fhe staffs of fhe ColOHIGS Messrs Fenwiek .(New Zealand) and Cunningham and ■Lord Roberts also spoke. Mr Fink proposed .a resolution urging the advocacy of -universal training. Mr Mark Cohen''(New Zealand) seconded it, and urged that Lord Roberts should be sent as a missionary throughout the Empire. The Conference disapproved <f& adopting any resolution, and thenaotion was therefore withdrawn.
