COTTAGE DESTROYED.

The Fire Brigade was^ called Out at 1.15 this morning to attend a fire which broke out in a five-roomed cottage in Redwood Street, occupied by Mr J. Brymer, and owned by the Domain . Board Trustees. Before anything could be done to save the building,, however, the flomes, fanned by the gale blowing, had demolished the structure and contents, excepting a sewing machine. How the fire originated is not known, but the inmates of the house were awakened by the smoke and flames, and it was only with considerable difficulty that they "were got out. The house was insured in the Royal Exchange office for £150, and the furniture for £50 in the Phoenix office.
