TOWN EDITION. THE WAIRAU BAR.
BLENHEIM'S SIDE DOOR
The Retailers Association are about to take a hand in the matter of improving the Wairau Bar, / and with that object in view a general meeting is to be held for the purpose of discussing the present situation. The Mayor, who is also Chairman of the Harbour Board, is to, be approached in connection with making a move object of. improving upon the • present harbour facilities. Mr A. McCallum, when spoken to relative to the Wairau' bar question, by an Express representative, stated that while he had always contended that the Picton harbour served as a 'front door for Blenheim, the Wairau harbour was an important factor as a "side door," and the question of improving the approach to the door was one that the residents of Blenheim ' should seriously consider. It is quite obvious from the tenor of the Mayors remarks that he recognises the necessity of a united effort being made by the farmers and tradespeople alike, m order that conditions prevailing' at the bar may be considerably improved iipori. : " ■ ■
