SO HE HAD!
It was a raw cold night, and the snow fell piteously. On the kerb stood a thinly-clad young woman, and as the 'bus slowed on the corner of the' street she looked imploringly at the conductor,, who was a goodhearted Irishman.; . -
"Shure, 'tis full Oi am;, but," glancing again at the young woman, "come on, me honey, in wid ye, Oi'll chance it." - N :
In the corner sat a ''masher,'' with eyeglass firmly fixed, watching the proceedings. Presently he called out: "Conductali!" "Sor!"' . '" ..
"Are you aware that you have one over your number?"
"'Ay' I, sor? Oi'll-see.' 5' Then he counted, beginning at the opposite corner, leaving , the "masher" until tne last:
"Wan, two, three/four, foive, six, seveii, x eight, nome, tin, 'leven, twelve, thir -. So I 'aye, and, be Jove! ye're the very wan. Out ye come!" , '
And out he had to go,
