POLLARD'S JUVENILE OPERA COMPANY.
. _ _-^_ Mr Fred W. Duval, the touring; manager of t'Kis ever-welcome com-, bination, arrived yesterday to make arrangements for : the forthcoming visit here. The-opening night Ms fixed for Monday next, May 17th, and the season will .be limited to four nights. Since last seen in Blenheim Mr Pollard has toured Australia with phenomenal success, the universal verdict being that his company was the best all-round combination at present touring the Colonies. Since the last visit here Mr Pollard has considerably altered the personnel of his company. While most of the old favourites are still with him, he has secured the services of several artists of mature age and excellent credentials. The'following are ,the arrangements for the season. The initial attraction on Monday night will be Planquette's world-famed comic opera, ; "Rip Van Winkle." When this work was staged by Mr Pollard in Wellington some two months ago it ran for ten nights, and caused quite*5 a sensation. On Tuesday we are promised a different class of piece in the military musical comedy, "The Gay Hussar"; on "Wednesday the attraction will be the revised and improved version of the brilliant -musical comedy, "The Isle of Bongrfiong"; on' Thursday a special programme will be given, full particulars of which will be advertised . ' The box plans will be opened at Quartly's on Thursday morning, when there is "certain to be a rush for seats. :.
