WESTPORT, Jan. 11. During December 84 steamers and four sailers, representing 44,040 tons, entered Westpprt,, • and 88 steamers and four sailers, representing 48,346 tons, left port. The total tonnage for the month was 92,386. The mean high water in the river was 23 feet 1 inch, and on the bar 23ft lin. The rainfall was 8.89 inches. Jno. Cook, a mirier, met with an accident by a fall of stone and coal in the Denniston colliery yesterday. His foot was badly crushed, his legs bruised, and his head injured. The poll for the gasworks extension loan of £5000 was carried by 75 to 10. There are* nearly 1500 names on the roll.
