PRESS COMMENT.

REASON FOR THE AGITATION. THE MINERS' FEDERATION. (Received Oct. 4, 8.57 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 3. The Daily Chronicle, discussing the meeting at Cardiff, emphasises the dangers of doctrinaire Socialism from the workers' standpoint. The Daily News asserts that the miners and textile workers are not Socialists, and would secede from a party professing an exclusive Socialist creed. The Westminster Gazette states that Mr Keir Hardies party is quarrelling with Mr Bell because ho co-operates with the Liberal Party. The Amalgamated Railwaymen's Conference knows only the Labour Party, and considers that a Labour Member is compromised when he works with the Liberals. A ballot of the Miners' Federation declared against joining the Labour Representation Committee. This abstention is equal to two-thirds of the Labour voters.
