FLAXBOURNE SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING. . The annual general meeting of the Flaxbourne Settlers' Association was held on Oct. Ist. There was a very large attendance, over 40 settlers from all parts of the settlement being present, and great interest was taken in the proceedings. The report and balance-sheet, showing a balance of over £5, was read and adopted, and the President gave a resume of the matters which had been attended to during the year. He expressed gratification at the good attendance of members and the continued interest which was being taken in the Association. Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr A. D. Loe; Vice-Presi-dents, Messrs Alex Davidson and A. Van Asch ; Treasurer, Mr John Cunningham; Secretary, Mr.A. C. Thomson, and a strong committee of 18. As the expenses had been very light, it was decided to fix the annual subscription at 2s 6d, and to hold general meetings quarterly, so that members could discuss general matters more frequently. I It was also decided to hold the annual picnic on Dec. 26th, and a committee is to be appointed to make arrangements. During the evening the new Land Bill was discussed, and freehold and leasehold sides were warmly taken up. but no resolutions were passed.
