THE FIVE-MILE CHAMPIONSHIP
OF AUSTRALASIA.
Melbourne, April 15
At the Druids' Gala yesterday, the Five Miles Scratch Championship of Australasia, in which most of the cracks started, was won by Major Taylor, Walker, of Victoria, being second, and Chalmers, of New Zealand, third. There was a brilliant finish between Taylor and Walker, the American winning by a length and a half. Time, 12tnin 1 3 ssec.
The final of the Wheel Race was postponed, owing to heavy rain late in the day.
