At the agricultural show, three horses—Mr Molntosh's Tancred, Mr Morton's Desmond, and Mr Groin's Strathtnore—tied in the high jump competition at 6ffc 6in, and divided the prizes. The previous show record was 6ft oin.
At the stock sales in connection with the show, the draught stallions Dalmore and Glenroy, the property of Mr John Grant, of New Zealand, "were sold for 105 guineas and 80 guineas respectively.
Tommy Moon, the native who assaulted and murdered a girl named Smith some weeks ago, was executed to-day. Death was instantaneous.
