A hundred drunken German and Austrian soldiers fought with bricks, knives, and clubs in the street at Pekin ia the presence of crowds of Chinese until patrols separated and confined the rioters to barracks.
Renter's agency at Pekin reports that the Russians explain that the evacuation of Niuchwang was delayed owing to the desire to establish an international sanitary commission to prevent bubonic plague.
Prince Ohing has succeeded Yang li: as Grand Secretary.
