PELORUS ROAD BOARD.

♦ The ordinary monthly meeting of this BoaTd was held on Wednesday last. Present — Messrs Duncan ( : n the chair), Storey, Kennington, Dalton, Higgins and Forrest. A letter was read from Mr Wearne asking fur the Board's sanction to placing a box drain under the road at ■ idle isvill* for carrying water to the King: Solomon mine. — Granted. A loiter was read from Mr A. Turner re the Board lowering the wages of their surface men, and pointing out that his case was exceptional, as at times he ghad to travel some miles to his work, — The Board decided to grant Mr Turner 7s a day. A letter was read from Mr W. Newman, calling attention to tli -> very rough t-tate of the road between Hughes' and Cooper's. — The Inspector was instructed to attend to the matter. A letter was read from Mr Taylor offering to do some necessary work at North Bank for £7.— lt was decided to call for tenders, to be accepted by the Inspector and Messrs ILeuniNgton and Storey. Mr Storey reported that he had examined the Waikakaho Koad, and he did not think it was necessary to expend any money m that locality. Some discussion took place as to the very bad state of the Kaituna Road.— The Inspector was instructed to have the road repaired where necessary. The Secretary was instructed to communicate wiih the Commissioner ! of * rown Lands re plans for the Brown River bridge. Messrs Dalton Bros applied for leave to fell some bush ou public roads adjacent to their property. — Granted. After passing accounts, the Board adjourned.
