miUBES. May 24— Takapuna Jockey Club Winter. May 24— Otaki Maori Racing Club. May 24— Blenheim Birthday Baoing Olub May 24— Town and Suburban Winter May 24, 25— Dunedin Jockey Olub. NOTES BY THUNDERBOLT. To-morrow will see no leas tban 9 race meetings and 5 trotting meetings m the colony, and it is my intention to deal with these meetings I deem of most local interest. The Wftnganui Steeplechase meeting opena with the Flying Handicap which on paper looks a real " hook" for Waiuku, and there must be something radically wrong for him to lose. Next to him I like Gold Cup and Orion. The Steeplechase has the great acceptance of 18, and a big field is sure to face the starter. Kapua is the ruling favourite. The best half dozen appear to me to be Norton, Tiritea, Kapua, Bootleg, Belli and Morag. To narrow it down I take Belte, with Tiritea and Norton to follow. The Wanganui Stakes is looked upon on all sides to furnish a great contest between Irish Twist, Waiuku and Lorelei. At the present weights I prefer Wajuku, but punters should bear m mind that a victory m the F.ying mulcts him m a 71b penalty, which wi 1 make him ooncede Icißh Twist Slbs, a capacity which I doubt, however I think the race lies between the two of them. A soot Vale should win the hack race, Sedgbrook a good outsider, Splendid acceptances have been received for the Otaki Maori Meeting, and are difficult to pick. I like the following m their various engage(Continued on Fourth Page.)

[Continued from third page.] ments :— Trial, Steel King or Streamlet ; Hurdles, Barman or Conscript ; Ofcaki Plate, Mau o' Wav, 1 be Miser, WairoDgaroa ; Flying, Voitaire, Voltigeur and Man o 1 Way. Harking away to Danedin, Liberator or Strephon should account for the Hurdles, and Casket or Outpost the Birthday Handicap. I have left our own meeting till the last, and judgiugfrorn the acceptanoep, which are quite a feather m the handioapper's cap, a good day's racing should result. The Hurdle race opens tho ball at 11 o'clook and should fall 10 Cadger. Should Mt, Morgan negotiate the hurdles danger may be expected from that quarter. Alpha appears l'ghtly treated m the Maiden Plate, and should acoounfc for that race, with Tippler and Sovereign next best, f Gladstone should win the Blenheim Handicap, followed by Flywheel. The trot is too mysterious for me to hazard a selection upon, so I will pass 'on to the Flying, m which Kings Own and Hector read a likely pair, and for an outsider commend me to Lady Cole.
