A REJECTED SUITOR'S END.
Melbourne, December 27. At the inquest on the body of John Henry Sheeny, of Ashfield, who shot himself on Tuesday night, a young woman named Nellie Stritch gave evidence which showed that the suicide was the result of her rejecting the deceased. It appears that Sheehy accompanied the girl and her three sisters home, and at tea announced that it would be the last time he would have tea with her, as he was going into the country. Afterwards several songs were sung, and prior to leaving he asked her if she would marry him. On her refusing, he asked, " Are you determined ?" She replied " Yes," and he said, " So am I." He then turned away, and drawing a revolver from his pocket, shot himself through the heart. A few minutes before this Sheehy had sung the song, " I've just come away from the Inquest."
