The entries were rb numerous bb m former years, bat m lome olasaei the quality wai not up to the usaal standard. Southern exhibits were oonspioious by their absence, while the exhibits from Greymoath, Nelson and Blenheim, arrived late, bat were admitted to competition. The Mayor, m welcoming His Excellency said the importance attached to the industry was shown by tbe f ici that during the last twelve months, ponltry to the valae of £2000 had been imported into the Australasian colonies. Lord Glasgow said poultry culture bed not reoeived the attention it deserved, and he was glad to learn the tendenoy was to encourage its pursuit. The Ballanoe memorial trophy was again won by a Wanganui exhibitor, this time by J. J. Buokerell. Among the prize takers outside of looal exhibitors ate -.—Poultry— White, Auokland; Walker, Auckland ; Sowmaa, Blenbeim ; Elkinß, Masterton ; Haywood, Auckland; Beid Bros., Auckland; Buokerell, Wanganui ; Ellis, Kereru ; Grey and Bimmonds, Auokland ; Hoult, Christohurota ; and King, Carterton. Of the looal exhibitors R. E. Bannister was mo3t successful, scouring all the prizes m the ooohin aad brahma classes. In the duck classes W. flume secured chief awards. In the pigeon classes, Walker, Auckland, McEwan, Dunedin, and Boys, Wairarapa, are tbe most successful of the visitors, and W. L. Curtis of looal exhibitors. Canaries ara a poor lot and striotly confined to local tshi* bitors.
