ABUSE OF RAILWAY PASSES.
[PEB S.S. HARAIvOA AT THE BLUFF.] Sydney, March 22. The report of the Select Committee appointed to inquire into the charges with reference to members of the New South Wales Parliament using railway passes obtained m the names of their wives, for other persons, has been presented to the Legislative Assembly. The Committee is the outcome of several charges levelled against Mr Black the Labour member for West Sydney, after that gentleman visited Melbourne during the Cup Carnival, It was reported that Mr Black who. was an unmarried man, applied for a pass for his wife, and thus improperly used 'his position as a member' of Parliament. But at the time he believed it was the custom for passes so obtained to be used indiscriminately. With reference to the cases of Messrs Tricket and Hassal, whom Black charged with doing the same thing a3 himself, the Committee report that Mr Triokett paid for the passage referred to, and that Mr Hassall used his pass for a near and dear relative.
