The Cain case was resumed this morning Hiekens, chemist's assistant, was oalled to prove the sale of atropia m November, 1885, and January m the following year. Two boys named Trilford and Wilson, who had served Hall as grooms, gave evidence to Hall's frequent visits to Cain's house. Both witnesses said that no animals were Buffering from eye affeotions daring the time they were m the prisoner's employ. Henry Gardiner was called to show that prisoner's mare was suffering m November from influenza, but not eye affection. Q. W. Gardiner repeated tha evidence he gave at the inquest. John Fra9er proved the signature on the mortgage not to be his. j The Magistrate decided to adjourn at 12.30, before taking Mrs Newton's evidenoe, till 1.45, when the oase will be resumed.
