HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. In the House yesterday Dr Wallis raised a question of privilege as to whether it was competent for Mr Beetham to give notice of the Address m Reply on behalf of Mr A. S. Collins, who was not sworn m. The Speaker settled the matter by calling on Mr Collins to be sworn, who then renewed the notice. The following bills were given notice of : — Hospital and Charitable Aid (Hon. Mr Dick), Licensing (Hon. Mr Hall), Chinese Immigration (Major Atkinson). Mr Hall, referring to a point raised by Sir George Grey on Thursday, that no seats were provided m the Council Chamber for the Representatives at the opening ceremony, explained that the omission was accidental. Sir George Grey thought the matter of sufficient impo^ance for the Government to move for a committee on the whole subject. Mr Hall promised to consider the suggestion. The Speaker read a memo, from the Speaker of the Legislative Council, expressing regret at the occurrence, and stating that steps would be taken to prevent a recurrence. Sir George Grey's motions, for all the Patetere correspondence, and a return of all money paid to newspapers m this colony, were agreed to. The House rose at 3*15.
