THE SHELVED FOOTBRIDGE,
S.fR, — Allow me through your valuable journal to complafnofagreat injustice the Blenheim Borough Council has done the mhabitaa-ts- m North Ward. Some nine months ago some of the ratepayers sent in' a petition praying the Coun-
cil to erect a foot bridge across the Omaka and pledging ourselves to subscribe £25 towards the cost -of such a convenience, and after their promises they have now shelved the petition for another six months. One Councillor remarked that they cou^l not vote the ratepayers, money on such a job, and the same evening they could vote away the people's money m rais'ng the salary of the Town Clerk. They call that justice ! The extra money they voted or gave away would have put the foot bridge so that our children could go to school m bad weather and ourselves to church on a wet Sunday. There are many back roads formed and gravelled, and m many instances not a dwelling house m them, and made only to be a convenience for people to have nearer access to their homes, but us m our neighborhood we have to pay away our money and get nothing for it. ■ One that likes Justice.
