JOHANNESBURG TRAGEDY.

■ A terrible tragedy occurred to-night in the' Fordsburg district of Johannesburg, as the result of which two men and a ■woman are dead and a third man —a ■ detective—As injured (stated’ - the Johannesburg correspondent., of ‘The Daily Mail’ on November 15). One mail shot the wife of another, and the husband 1 of the murdered woman, meeting her murderer in the street promptly shot him dead. He then, retired ‘‘to bis room and shot at a detective who attempted to arrest him, wounding the detective, though not seriously. The husband proceeded to barricade himself in his room, and defied the police, who first tried fo overcome him by flouring chloroform into the apartnieiv through a fanlight. This method, •however,, failed, and the fire brigade was' accordingly called up. A hose was led into’the room with the purpose of flooding the nlafi out, but instead of surrendering lie retired into a corner and committed suicide over his wife’s dead body.'—•Centra 1 News.
