The Governor of Tennessee (Mr Hooper) is trying to force two Bills against the liquor trade though the Legislature and his opponents thwarted him by absenting themselves and preventing a quorum. The Governor stationed warders from the prisons in order to keep members in their places. The Mayor sent members of the police to see tihat members were not coerced and members of the Opposition made obstructing speeches, waving revolvers! the while.
