Mitchell (president) occupied the chair. The annual report (already published) j was taken as read, and. the, secretary (Mr W. Allison) submitted the balance-' sheet as follows.—Receipts: Balance : £l3 12s, subscriptions £.13 2s 6d, entrance fees £1 13s, donations £5 12s 6d Wyndham Club 10s 4d, Ota go Acclim.'itisation Society £22 10s, total £57 os' 4d. Expenditure: Trophies £0 14s 6d,' cartage of fish, etc., £5 7s 6d, clearing; scrub £3O, sundries £3 17s 3d, cash on i hand £ll Is Id, total £57 0s 4d. j j In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet the chairman, congratulated the society upon the' succcve achieved during the oast season. The society had spent a good deal of money on improving the streams and on prizes and had finished un with tho satisfactory balance of £ll. Mr G. A. Watson seconded the motion, which w r as carried. Tho election 0 f office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr James Mitchell (l-e-eioeted) ; vice-presidents, Messrs I). Cameron, 0. A Watson and M. Maley: secretary, Mr W, Allison (reelected); treasurer, Mr J. C. Abcrnethy; auditor, Mr C. M. Inglis (reelected); committee, Messis W. Leitch, W. Anderson, W. Hayles, J. Barclay, T. Carroll, P. Amos and 1). McGowan. Messrs Stephens, T. F. Quilter, j. Friend and D. Hope were elected honorary members. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s 6d per member. Mr J. Reid said that soring the Mataura Club had (spent £lO on the Miniihau between Munro's and 1 the fingerposts the Wyndham Club should be asked to give a couple of day.-;' work to the banks of the stream.

Mr Hand said the rent from the hut was supposed to be spent on improving the river banks. Mr Maley thought ilie Otago Acclimatisation Society .should be approached on the matter, seeing that there was a credit from the revenue of the hut.

It was "That it be a recommendation to the committee to take steps in the matter." Mr T. Carroll stated that tho acclimatisation societies issued licences which enabled anglers to fish on anv stream ._ Holders of licenses, however, were ouen refused admittance to the streams by property-owners, and the speaker had been warned off the il.im.ihau ba.raks last season. He thought the. angling clubs and acclimatisation societies should do (something to secure fishermen tho right of access to the various streams.

Mr P. Amos remarked that all streams were, supposed to have a. chainago.

■Mr Maley spoke in favor of the various bodies taking action, holding that it was time, something was done in the matter.

It was eventually resolved, "That it be a recommendation to the committee that tho various clubs and acclimatisation societies shoukl be circularised regarding this matter." On, the motion of Mr J as. Hand, seconded by Mr F. J. Sherwood, a recommendation was made to the committee, "That it should endeavor to fret a representative on the Southland Acclimatisation Society." A vote of thanks to the retiring of-fieo-bi arei';; an<] chairman concluded th<« meeting.

THE SOCIAL. The animal social was- subsequently held in McGregor's Hall. There was a large attendance of the club's supporters, including representatives from, the Otagoi and Southland Acclimatisation Societies and the Southland and Wyndliam Anglers' Club. The president (Mr Jas. Mitchell) presided, and the following toast-list was honored:—"The King"; "The Imperial Forces," proposed hy Mr J. Hamilton and responded to by the chairman ; "The Otago Acclimatisation Society," proposed by Mr Gr. A. Watson and replied to hy Mr A. Stephens (curator of the Clinton Hatcheries) and Messrs Jenkins and S. Peden (of the Otago Acclimatisation Society). Mr H. Cameron proposed the health of "The Southland Acclimatisation Society," which was acknowledged by Messrs Pierce and McNamara (representatives of the society) and Curator Friend, of the Mataura Hatcheries. Mr T. Carroll proposed "The Southland Anglers' Club," which was responded to by Mr Aitken. "The Wyndham Anglers' Club" was proposed by Mr C. M. Inglis and acknowledged by Messrs Smart, Winning, Ferguson and Kingsland. The chairman proposed the health of "The Curators of the Otago and Southland Acclimatisation Societies" which was replied by Messrs A. Stephens and J. Friend. The health of "The Mataura Anglers' Club'' was proposed by ~S\v F. J. Sherwood and acknowledged bv t.ho chairman and Mr M. ,Maley. The health of the chairman was also honored.

At a suitable interval in the proceedings the chairman presented the prizes won. during laKt season and during the evening items were rendered by Mews J. C Abernethy, G. Braxton, J. Sinclair, Ewnn Cameron, Hoilnvell, .1. McDowell, J. Itcid, J. Milne and .1). Cam oi-on.
