A SPOILED ROMANCE.
Miss Harriet King, a romantic you tig American girl, recently placed her 'name and address in a bottle, which she scaled, and, while out fishing in a motor launch, threw into the sea (the, NewYork corespondent of the 'Daily Telegraph' says.). The girl asked that whoever found the bottle should communicate with her, and she admitted to her friends that '•important tilings might happen." The bottle floated Irom New \ork and was finally found at Manteo, North Carolina, by a septuagenarian married negro, with 11 children. The negro Bent his portrait to Miss King, and hinted that the present state of liis finances alone prohibited him irom coming to New York to make the acquaintance of "so lovable, and charming a young lady."
