Among the names of the successful candidates in the senior free pl:.;;e and Civil Service junior examination:! at Invercargill occur the following of district interest—James Boyne, Elizabeth McDougall and Rupert W. Hall. Death has been busy recently, nc] today no fewer than three funerals Of well-known old residents of tha district—Mrs A. Brown, of East G< ; ?, Mrs Geo. Biggar of Croydon and Mr;. Milne of Chattdn—took place at th; Gore Cemetery. In each case there was a large attendance of mourners, testifying to the'esteem felt for the dr ceased and sympathy with the bereaved relatives.
