WIFE CLAIMED IN COURT.
THE CHIUSTCHVKCH CASE. TEB UNITED TBESS ASSOCIATION. CHKISTCHUUCH. July 20. The man Thomas Long, who when before tho S.M. Court last week to answer to a ehargo of being found on premises without lawful excuse made some sensational utterances, came before Mr Haselden, S.M., this forenoon. Long had stoutly maintained that the female witness lor the prosecution was his wife, which the woman on oath denied no less stoutly. The case was adjourned to give Long an opportunity to find proof of his marriage, and to-day Inspector McGrath produced a certificate of marriage between Long and Melanie Lobeau, solemnised in 1902. Mr Haselden said tho certificate, was hardly sufficient, and asked how they connected tho woman with it. Inspector McGrath said if necessary ho would produce, the woman's admission. Mr Haselden Baid even if accused was raarriod to tho woman it did not give an excuse for breaking into Moody's house, but having been in custody sinoo his arr«6t no further punishment vould be inflicted.
