A SORDID CRIME.
THE HORSHAM TRAGEDY, WHAT THE POLICE HEARD. Received July 19, 10.13 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 19. With regard to the Horsham tragedy, where a fruiterer named Cox was found with liis head battered in, liis wife and Albert Ha ( v being committed for trial in connection with tho case, Hay told the police that he had quarelled with Co.x, who accused him of uhvavs being drunk when he came home. He struck Cox several times with a toy gun, then grasped him by the throat and held it for 15 minutes till Cox was dead. Afterwards lie washed tho doad man's i face. Mrs Cox also admitted that Hay killed her husband. Tho medical evidence showed that hoi had been strangled, death being accelerated by a weak hoart. i The police also overheard incriminating conversation between the accused while they were occupying adjacent cells.
