Tho North Otago Jockey Club's meeting was continued to-day with the following results: — Empire Hurdle Handicap.—Ringman 1, Homeward 2, Southern Cross 8. All started. Ringman won by four lengths. Time, 3min 29sec. Iho Shorts.—Obsono 1, Ripple 2, Lady Dirk 3 Scratched; Gold Sail, Newlands, and Santa Clara. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, lmin. 4seo. Victoria Handicap—Pinul 1. Czar Kolohol 2, Federal 3. All started. Pinul won by three lengths. Time, lmin 43sec. WANGAXUI RACES. I'Elt UNITED PIIF.SS ASSOOIATION. WANGANUI May 22. 'iho W'augaiiui Jockey Club's winter meeting opened to-day. Heavy rain fell during part of the'day. Tl'lo sum of €9236 was put through the totalisator, against £947-1 011 the first day last year, The concluding results of the races 011 the first day follow:
Electric- Handicap.—Waintn 1, Overtime 2, l'urukim 3. Won bv half a head. Time, lmin 4 3-osec. Kaiatoke Hack Hurdles.—Fel de Joie 1, To Koroiv 2. Stray Boy 3. Won easily by two lengths. Time, 3tnin 20 1-flspp. Century Hurdles.—Belario 1, Compass 2, Xavicr 3. Won by two lengths. Time, 2utin 20 4-ssec. Connolly Handicap.—-Gwendolina 1, Mahuta 2, Ladv Menschikoff 3. Won by two lengths. Time, 2min 12 2-Ssec. Purua Hack Flat Handicap.—Mendip 1, Strategist 2. North Head 3. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 46sec. SECOND DAY. WANGANUI, May 24. Tho wcnihor was showery and the track heavy for the second day of the Waliganui Jockey Club's winter meeting. The attendance was large. The results of the racing follow: Winter Oats.—lrish Kifle 1, Ballarat 2. Hennia 3. Scratched: Mon Ami, Waikaraka and Montpelier. Irish Rifle won by a length. Grandstand Steeplechase.—Jackpot 1. Hurus 2, Playmate 3. Jackpot won all the way. Baigowuie Hack Handicap.—Strategist 1, Lady Lucy 2, Mallet 3. All started. Strategist won by a long neck alter a great race. Hack Hurdles.—Auratus 1, Nova 2, Waiune 3. Scratched: Stayboy, Moscow and Burton. Aurattts won by two lengths.
