DRAUGHTS.

o INVERCARGILL v. GORE.

The return match between the abovo clubs was played at Aitken's Criterion Hotel last evening. J. Mulvey cap- j tained the visitors and J. 51. Bai-ron i the local players. Fourteen, had made the trip from Invercargill, and they had pitted against them pretty , well the Btrongest side possible. After two hours' play the town playors gained their sccojid victory, this time by a majority of four games. Keen interest was taken in tho struggle, and there was quits a number of interested spectators, who took a keen interest in the various games. This being the second time the town players liavo won, it is hardly likely that another match will be played, but the matter of a Town v. Country match might be worth considering. The Invercargill players arc a very strong side, and would take some beating against any club team. Following aro the scores

At- the conclusion of tlio match, Jlr Mulvey returned thanks for the kind manner in which they had been treated, and expressed liis pleasure at his side having won a second time. They had got together a good side, and had expected a close fight. Such had been the case, and they had come out victors by a narrow margin.

Mr Barron congratulated the town men on their win, and said that they 'had won fair and square, as the Gore Club had got together its best possible. sid.\ Evidently, under Mr Atulvey's tuition, Invercarbill draughts players were making good headway, but his men yet hoped to put them clown.

Before and after the match the visitors were entertained to tea and supper by the homo club. A word of praise is due to Mrs Aitken for the capital arrangements she. had made for the holding of the match.
