TO THE BURGESSES OF BOROUGHS OF GORE AND MATAUBA. rADIES & GENTLEMEN—Having been 1 nominated for a seat on Bluff Harbor tbat should you elect me to tbe position, 1 shall work in the best interests of the port' and the .districts I represent in particular. It bas long been recognised that the districts of Gore and Mataura have suffered to some extent through not being represented on the Board. You have now the opportunity to send a local man to represent you. The Bluff Harbor is the natural port for the ingress and egress for the requirements and products of the districts for many miles around and above Gore. I am informed by experts that the port can accommodate almost every ship trading with the colony. What is mo3t required are more freights and cheap dues. The ships will come if sufficient inducement is offered. It will be my aim to induce shippers to patronage the Bluff Harbor. This can be done by urging the building of tbe Gore-Waikaka railway, reduction of freights, harbor dues, etc.—l am, yours faithfully, THOMAS GREEN. Gore, 29th January. BLUFF HARBOR BOARD. TO THE BURGESSES OF MATAURA AND GORE. LADIES & GENTLEMEN,-As the First F>ction to represent the Boroughs of Mataura Rnd Gore on the above Board is approaching, I have great pleasure in offering you my services as a representative. I have watched with great interest the rise and progress of the Bluff Harbor since I first saw it in 1854, and consider that with a vigorous and active Board—one that can see well into its future, and recognise the large and valuable back country the Bluff is the outlet for—it is capable of being made second to do harbor in New Zealand. Should you consider me worthy of the honor, I shall do my best to merit your confidence. I have the honor to be, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, HUGH CAMERON. Mataura, 29th January.
