INVERCABGILL RACES. The second day's races were brought to a successful conclusion on Saturday, when there was a large attendance of the public, who freely patronised the totalisator. The total investments on which were £5681 for the two days. A committee meeting of the Gore Trotting Club was held last evening, Mr D. Collins (president) in the chair, when several matters in connection with the club's annual meeting to be held on the 21st and 22nd insls. were attended to. Messrs Mason and Son were engaged to work the totalisator, and it was decided that a £1 machine be ran inside and a 10s one outside, and thiU in trots in which there were seven or more starters dividends be paid out on first and second horses. The privileges are to be sold by Messrs Wright, St6phenson and Co. on Friday at 2.30 p.m. Special train arrangements are promised for both days, and particulars of these will be advertised later on.

Nominations closed last evening, and as will be seen these are highly satisfactory. For the ten races comprising the programme 155 nominations have been received, and amongst these are some of the best trotters in Otago and Southland. For the Gore Cup of 85sovs., one mile, to be run in heats, no less than 17 nominations have been received, and the class of horses which have so far paid up is much above the average, and with a fair percentage of starters, this event should provide some excellent sport. Handicaps for the first day will be declared on Monday.
