NEW ZEALAND "JACK HORNER."
It is told of this celebrated hero of our nursery days that he '• sat in a corner eating a Christmas pie," doubtless an enjoyable occupation ; then he " put in his thumb and pulled out a plum," finally exclaiming " What a good boy am I ! " Now, to tell you the truth, as the men of the Fourth and part of the Fifth Contingent rode through Dunedin the other day, booted and saddled, with all the pomp and pageantry of war, Otago felt it had reason to be proud of the show ; and realising that we had all lent a hand in creating these splendid Contingents, we mentally exclaimed, with the same complacency as Jack Homer, " what a good boy am I " — in fact, what good boys we nil are. •■ There's grit in tho boys, and if they get a chance to smell powder the grit will certainly show itself. The word "grit" is perhaps rather indefinite, but it is still well enough understood. It stands for " quality " and " worth." For instance, such teas as the HondaiLanka Company's are in their own way of of the same stamp as the Fourth Contingent ; perhaps more like the First, because the worth and quality of these teas need not be taken on trust, but can be actually proved any day. Now is tho time for Britishers, Home or colonial-born, to stand shoulder to shoulder. Don't forget that you can in one way do this by using only Hondai-Lanka tea. It is grown by British colonials like ourselves in a country which flies the Union Jack. It is packed there, and sold by the Hondai-Lanka Company in all its fragrant purity, as it leaves Ceylon. Note particularly : This is not a low-priced tea. If you require that buy a common blend, but if you want real crack value then Hondai-Lanka will suit you exactly. Ask your grocer for it. If he has something better to offer you he speakß the truth, and is an honest inau, but don't misunderstand him. He means " belter" for himself, but certainly worse for you. Hondai-Lanka tea pays only email profits, so from the procer's point of view any common hig-profit-yieldiug brand is better, but for the consumer there is no " better " value than McKenzie's Hondai-Lnnka Ceylon lea.
