BUBONIC PLAGUE.

Sydney, March 23. Another case of plague is reported, a man named Haydon, redding in Marrickville. He had worked in Sussex street. An active crusade is to be made against dirty premises in the oity and suburbs, and many have been heavily fined. The Cabinet sat throughout to-day considering the plague regulations. It was decided to extend the proclaimed area to Sussex street. Th shipping companies and business people are busy moviug. Most of the residents in the proclaimed district have been inoculated. A proclamation was issued to-night quarantining the infected area, including Kent street. A cordon of police surrounds it, and the residents have been given, the option of remaining or being removed *to the quarantine station. A man named Kelly has died suddenly at Surrey Hills, it is reported, of plague. Precautions have been taken pending a i>ost mortem. Hoiußr, March 23. The Government has declared Sydney an infected port, and pratique will not be granted to vessels till five days after departure from Sydney.

Sydney, March 25. The whole of the proclaimed area has been closed, and barricades will be erected. The supply of serum is fast becoming exhausted. Ten thousand doses from India are expected in about three weeks. Efforts are being made to obtain more from Pasteur's Institute in Paris. A start is being made to manufacture serum locally, but it will take months to cultivate it. The Archbishop has issued a special prayer for deliverance from the plague to be read in Anglican churches. A man named Haynes, resident in Quay street, has been attacked by the disease. He worked in Sussex street. A post mortem of the supposed ease of plague at Surrey Hills proved that death was due to heart disease. A man named Gordon, residing in the infected area, has been quarantined, his sickness being suspected to bo plague. Inspectors are making house to house visits in tho infected area. A number of places are reported very insanitary, some us unfit for human habitation. Cleansing operations commence. on Monday. Over 8000 have been inoculated. Two more cases are reported— Mills and Hall, both employed, but at widely divergent points, in George street. One death has occurred in quarantine, that of Haynes. A youth named Hogan has been attacked by plague in Cleveland street. There is another suspicious case in Balmain. The hospital report for the week ending Saturday shows that 24 cases are under treatment ; that there have been 11 deaths and one recovery. March 26. Two more cases wore reported this afternoon — AndersoD (Balmaiu) and Beavan (Waverley), both employed in the infected district and inoculated a few days ago. Hayden, a quarintine patient, is dead. Further cases reported to-night are Dove (North Sydney), Collins (Oxford street), and Hutchinson (Clarence street).
