Tea Meeting and Social at Mataura.

A tea meeting and social was held on Thursday evening last in the Christian Meeting Housp, Matanra, for the purpose of wolooming Mr Way, the new eyangelist connected with the body worshipping there. After an ample supply of tea and accompaniments had disappeared from view, a good programme, contributed mostly by members of the congregation, was gone thronjib. The choir opened the proceedings with a hymn, after which Mr Perkins gave an address. Mrs Gait saßg "The Fisherman and bis Child." . Miss McLeod also gave a sole, entitled " The Holy City," both being well rendered and received much applause. Keadings end recitations were given by Misses Ladbrepjc^ and Hall, and by Mr.T. Pryde. _ „• ~ The second part" commenced with one of San key's bymnp, sung by the choir. Mr J. Gait followed with a recitation, "The Eoll Call," after which Mr X". Townshend gave an address. Miss Penny succeeded him with a solo, which was nicely Bun?. Mr Pryde, sen., then gave a short address, after which there were recitations by the Misses Pryde •;„ and Lgdbrook. The proceedings termi- >.- nated with a hymn. The church was well filled for the occasion, and an enjoyable evening was spent by all.
